Supersonics lock up first place with a resounding 5-1 win over Tri-Boro |
|
|
The Supersonics locked up first place in the division with a solid 5-1 victory over a feisty Tri-Boro squad. Knowing the stakes, the Supersonics jumped out to a 3-0 half-time lead, behind goals by Madison, Morgan (Tri-Boro own goal), and Abbey. Tri-Boro fought back and nearly brought the score to 3-2 if not for an off-side call. The Supersonics though regained control as Morgan notched goal #2 of the day, followed closely behind my a nice goal from Caitlyn. In addition to scoring a goal, Caitlyn pitched a first half-shutout. Sealing the deal in goal was Jaime who was forced to make several saves to preserve the lead. Tri-Boro played with a lot of energy, particularly in the second half. Strong defensive play by Alysse, Autumn, Kelsey, and Hailey were critical in preserving the win. By virtue of a 2-1 victory over Carbon United earlier this season, the Supersonics guaranteed themselves the best record in the division with one game remaining. Great job girls!
